Thanksgiving Tournament Rules
This tournament will be governed by “USA Hockey Rules”
SQUIRT: Games will consist of two 10 minute (periods 1 and 2) and one 12 minute(period 3) stop time periods.
Penalties: Minor - 1 Minute
Major - 3 Minutes
Misconduct - 5 Minutes
PEEWEE: Games will consist of three 12 minute, stop time, periods
Penalties: Minor - 1.5 Minutes
Major - 3 Minutes
Misconduct - 7.5 Minutes
BANTAM: Games will consist of two 12 minute (periods 1 and 2) and one 15 minute (period 3) stop time periods
Penalties: Minor - 1.5 Minutes
Major - 3 Minutes
Misconduct - 7.5 Minutes
Running time will be used under the following circumstances:
1. A team is behind by five goals or more in the third period (stop time will be
resumed if the goal differential is reduced to less than five)
2. Excessive penalties delay the game
3. The tournament directors feel the game is behind schedule
ROUND ROBIN RULES
All divisions will each consist of 5 teams. All teams will play each other once to determine Championship seeding. The seeds for each division will be determined by the total number of points accumulated during the preliminary four game round robin play. The following point system will be used:
WIN – 2 Points
TIE – 1 Point
LOSS – 0 Points
If at the end of the preliminary four games two teams are tied within their
division (have the same number of points) tiebreakers will be determined as follows,
in deciding order:
1. Result of head to head match up within division
2. Least goals allowed during tournament
3. Total goals scored, minus total goals allowed, during the tournament.
4. Most goals scored during the tournament.
5. Coin toss by tournament director.
CHAMPIONSHIP and CONSOLATION GAMES
Championship Game: #2 seed vs. #1 seed in each division.
If a championship game is tied after regulation the following format will be used:
1. 4on4, 5 Minute, stop time, sudden death overtime. Any penalties left after
regulation time will be carried over into the overtime.
2. If still tied, each team will select 3 players for a shootout. Most goals wins.
3. If still tied, Sudden Death Shootout. 1 player from each team until
winner. Must be different players then the previous 3 players selected.
